Where are these 2nd amendment rubes coming from? They shoot first and listen second, which is why the rest of civilization is wary of them having semi-automatic weapons in the first place. Stop and listen for a moment; no one is talking about banning guns, taking your guns or redacting the 2nd amendment. So just relax, put on your big boy pants and join the conversation.
The constructive thing to do is to talk about how we stop (read: curb) the madness that is springing up more and more across the land. Do we put more resources into caring for our mentally ill citizens? Create a more arduous and strict screening process to determine who can buy these weapons of death? Require liability insurance for weapons? Intelligently fund education so our children reap the benefits and not administrators, in hopes of preventing mass killings by disaffected youth?
These are the things that need to be talked about. Every time some hillbilly spouts off about Obama coming to take his gun (Ted Nugent) or the solution being to arm everyone and let the fastest on the draw survive (NRA) they are effectively pissing on the graves of those 20 dead kindergartners in Connecticut. And fucking shame on them for that.
